Who we are

We are both born in Holland – Carry in Rotterdam and Trudie in Utrecht.

Carry started playing his trumpet at the age of 13, under the watchful eye of Dirk Koster, a teacher at the Conservatoire of Music in Rotterdam. At age 18 he emigrated to South Africa with his parents and brother Harry. Here he joined the SA Police orchestra as solo trumpeter under the baton of Colonel Bradley. Throughout his life he played with numerous bands, had his own, mostly in Pretoria and Johannesburg and did studio gigs. In 1971 he went to Holland for a holiday, of course with trumpet in hand, and appeared on TV and radio. He landed a recording deal and recorded for BASF an Arnhem.

Trudie comes from a musical family where her parents and 4 siblings were all into music. She studied at the Conservatoire of Music in Pretoria. She started a music school along with Staccato Music store in 1981 and many students got their training here.

What we do

Music is our profession but above that…it is our Passion

We love music because it brings rest to the soul and in the rushed world we all live in, everybody needs rest and stillness.

We believe that our music can bring you to that place.

Together we just love to entertain and bring all the old music to life again.

We love to hear people say that our music brings back memories – that is what music is about, each song has a special memory.

How we do it

The two of us got married in 1979 and we moved to George in 1981, coming from Pretoria, here we opened a music store called Staccato Music. It was our life for 27 years and 10 years ago we sold it and decided to go back into music full time.

With a Yamaha Tyros, a Conn Trumpet and our voices we got going!

Since then we play weekly at a restaurant called Down to Earth in Herholdsbay for their Sunday lunch. We’ve done a breakfast run on Saturday mornings for almost 7 years at a lovely little place called Tafeltje Dek and then we do background music for functions and weddings.

Where we live

We live in the most beautiful place in the world! Our hometown is George , which is the center of the famous Garden Route in South Africa.

We are surrounded by sea and mountains…surrounded by glorious beauty!

A drive over the Outeniqua mountains brings you to Oudtshoorn, famous for its ostriches and the Cango Caves.

Mosselbay to the other side with it’s beautiful beaches and history

Knysna, one of the worlds most famous towns only 65km from George and Plettenbergbay a little further
